In a statement issued by CBCP on Thursday, Aug. 31, CBCP Secretary General Monsignor Bernardo Pantin said, "Our hearts ache with you during this time of profound loss."

"On behalf of the bishops of the Philippines, we would like to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Patricia Anne Brown," Pantin continued.

"Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate through this difficult journey of grief," he added.

CBCP added that the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila sent a letter saying that Archbishop Brown's mother had died.

Moreover, Monsignor Alessio Deriu, the first secretary of the nunciature, will act as Chargé d'Affaires, ad interim, while the nuncio is away in the United States with his family.
