The Iloilo City government led by Mayor Jerry Treñas inked a tripartite agreement with ERC and utility distributor MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) for the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and the implementation of Net-Metering Program.

“With this collaboration, we are taking a significant step in promoting green practices using renewable energy resulting in reduced electricity bills and a sustainable way of living, thus bringing a positive impact on the environment,” said Treñas.

The dual ERC programs aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, generate economic development, and manage electricity costs.

According to ERC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Monalisa Dimalanta, the Iloilo City government is the first outside of Luzon to back ERC’s renewable energy programs.

"We hope that other local government units (LGUs) are similarly inspired to partner with national agencies to bring solutions closer to our people," said Dimalanta.

MORE Power’s role is to back the Information and Education Campaign (IEC) of the two ERC programs.

"Our collaboration with Iloilo City has been active for the past three years, and we warmly welcome the involvement of ERC,” said MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro.
