Gendear Fernandez is returning to the music scene after more than three decades of singing. She was a recording artist in the 90s.

Gendear revived her hit single "Unang Pag-ibig" which won the Best Country Ballad Recording Award at the Awit Awards 1993. She is now active in making more original songs which we should watch out for.

Currently, Gendear is a happy housewife and blessed by the Lord with two daughters who are both good at composing and singing.

"It's all God's Grace," said Gendear on her return to showbiz, adding that she was surprised that many people would support her comeback.

According to Gendear, the Lord is very good. "God blessed me with a very supportive husband and children." Also her parents who were also excited with her return to singing.

She talked about her first single and his family. "I recorded this song when I was 15 years old (1990) and released it under Dear Production (my parents) and distributed it through Ivory Records.

"Unang Pag ibig is unrequited love song or we usually say "hugot" song. It is about a lover who failed and left but hoping that the one she loved will still come back. If you ask me if this song is about my story, it's not, hehehe. In fact, the reason why I recorded it again and released it on Spotify cause when I recorded Unang Pag ibig in 1990 I didn't really understand the song and my voice was still a child's voice and without much emotion. 'Cause I haven't experienced failure yet," she said.

Gendear added: "The composer of all my original songs is Albert Reyes but I did some changes to the melody and some of the lyrics. That's why I'm coming back, because since I didn't sing continuously, the songs that were made for me before, I will just record it and release it as an album on Spotify and all digital platforms.

"You can watch and listen to the very first recording of this song on my YouTube "Gendear Fernandez". I uploaded it because the CD was not fashionable then, it was still a cassette tape. I did not continue singing because I focus on studying. Then after college, I worked in the corporate in Tektite Ortigas, then in the government (Development Academy of the Philippines) in San Miguel Ave., Ortigas, where I met my husband, Allan Visitacion.

"I have two daughters. Chesca is in her 2nd year of college at UP Baguio, BS Physics. Her dream is to become a scientist and work at NASA. Our youngest is Maxine, in grade 11 at Home School Global. My children are really musicians, they composed songs and play guitar and piano and they also sing and have their YouTube channel."

Gendear is not new to performing on stage because when she was only 15, she has already performed many times with famous singers such as Richard Reynoso, Jennifer Mendoza, Jojo Abellana, and Billy Joe Crawford, who was 10 years old then.

Last Dec. 19, 2022, Gendear resumed her career through a successful solo concert held at the Hotel Supreme, Baguio City. She owes everything to the Lord.
On Aug. 12, Gendear will stage another concert at Pier 1 dubbed "Gendear Take 1 @ Pier 1."

When we asked her what Take 1 meant in her concert, her answer was, "Take 1 cause I am looking forward for Take 2, 3, and so on."

The singer is very positive that her shows will be followed again at Pier 1, as well as in various other places in the Philippines and even abroad where she already has an invitation to perform in Perth, Australia. She is also a regular co-host on Radyo Natin Perth (On-line), every Friday 7:30-8:30 p.m.
