The new normal may be a thing of the past that is slowly fading away, but one important lesson it has taught us is that being prepared can blunt the impact and help adapt to changing situations. Contactless payments and remote work solutions are only a few examples on how technology has reshaped how we do business and improved lifestyles.
The World of Consumer Electronics Expo, WOCEE, is another crucial step in preparing the country for technology and innovations. Entering into its fifth edition, WOCEE and along with the World Safety and Security Expo, are set to launch this August 9 to 12. These two events that go hand-in-hand together are a celebration of technology and innovation, a grand showcase of what the digital future holds for the country.
WOCEE is an exploration of how consumer electronics has been integrated into everyday lifestyle. This will include gadgets such as drones and smartphones for entertainment, devices on how we can better monitor our health, and financial technology solutions to simplify payments, among others.
In line with this, WOCEE, through their Tech Talk, will talk about cryptocurrency, the blockchain, and Web3. The event will also take a deeper look at the metaverse and answer some lingering questions about AI–such as, will AI take over human jobs? Will AI dominate the world? These questions will be quelled at WOCEE and shed more light in the benefits of AI. In hindsight, this is a preparation on how AI can be properly utilized, and how it can help bolster human-related work. Of course, WOCEE will be showcasing different fields of robotics.
New to WOCEE this year is their expansion to esports. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, given how gaming has become an important aspect of entertainment thanks to smartphones. Esports, after all, is a massive industry that has spawned competitions with multi-million prize pools.
Happening alongside WOCEE, is the World Safety and Security Expo, or WOSAS for short. This event is an exhibition of the innovations for cybersecurity and defense. It only makes sense that WOSAS happens in tandem with WOCEE. New technologies mean many opportunities, but unfortunately, that also extends to bad actors who seek to exploit these opportunities to take advantage of other people. WOSAS aims to protect people by informing them about new digital threats and exploring technologies for personal safety.
One of the biggest highlights of WOSAS is SecuCon. A part of WOSAS will bring in industry experts, arming people with awareness about the dangers of cyberspace. There are thousands of scams happening everyday, anyone and everyone can become a victim. SecuCon aims to raise awareness on how to remain vigilant and how to smell when something is “phishy.”
Besides cybersecurity, SecuCon will also tackle topics such as disaster management. Something just as crucial as the country is hit with powerful typhoons and the occasional earthquakes. In part of preparation and awareness, WOSAS will be showcasing innovations that can be deployed during disaster-struck areas, which also includes medical technologies.
This year, WOCEE and WOSAS are expected to receive over 20,000 visitors. Tickets are free, so anyone who is interested can stop by. There will be over 250 booths and over 131 exhibitors spread across a 15,000 square meter area.
WOCEE and WOSAS will be offering a free service where they will match participating companies and trade show visitors for business opportunities and investments.
