Ex-cop in viral road rage was contractual employee of SC justice

Former policeman Wilfredo Gonzales, who was involved in a gun-toting incident in Quezon City involving a bicycle rider, was a co-terminus employee of the office of Supreme Court (SC) Justice Ricardo R. Rosario.

In an advisory, Wilhelmina Aileen B. Mayuga, judicial staff head in the office of Justice Rosario, said that Gonzales was immediately terminated on Aug. 27, 2023 “upon discovery of the incident.”

Mayuga said that “Justice Rosario does not condone any form of violence or abusive behavior.”

The gun-toting incident that was captured on video became viral.  The Quezon City police started its investigation.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license of Gonzales, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) has revoked Gonzales’ privilege to own and carry firearms outside the residence.
