Residents in Barangay Pahanocoy also experienced up to four-feet of flood water.

Rivers in Barangays Banago and Mandalagan overflowed, while Sum-ag River and several creeks were at critical water levels on Monday.

Data released by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) as of Tuesday, August 29, said 2,056 families composed of 6,781 individuals were evacuated.

Affected residents are temporarily sheltered in 47 evacuation centers here.

Barangay Sum-ag has the most number of evacuees with 468 families or 1,867 persons, followed by Barangay Pahanocoy with 399 families or 1,404 persons, and Barangay Singcang-Airport with 397 families or 1,140 persons.

Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, CDRRMO head, said that “the rains were cumulative and the grounds became saturated. There’s less water absorption because we’re an urban area.”

Meanwhile, the city government extended the suspension of classes on all levels in this city until August 30 due to the inclement weather.
