1,000 MPD cops deployed to secure BSKE


Over 1,000 personnel of the Manila Police District (MPD) were deployed to secure the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in the city on Oct. 30.

In a send-off ceremony held at the MPD Headquarters on Saturday morning, Aug. 26,  the policemen were informed of the areas and voting facilities where they will be assigned to ensure the peaceful conduct of the polls.  

Following the send-off ceremony is the ceremonial activation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoints on Aug. 27 along España corner Blumentritt Road.

In accordance with Comelec Resolution No. 10918, MPD said the Comelec checkpoints will officially start at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 28 until Nov. 30

It also said the city will implement a gun ban, which will take effect from Aug. 28 to Nov. 29.

"Sa ngalan ng Manila Police District, nakikiisa po kami sa buong pamilya ng Comelec sa pagkakaroon ng maayos na eleksyon sa October 30 (On behalf of the Manila Police District, we stand in solidarity with the entire Comelec family in having an orderly election on October 30)," MPD chief Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said.

Dizon also encouraged the residents especially the young voters to choose their barangay leaders wisely and responsibly in order to have a just and decent election.
