The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) welcomed on Thursday, Aug. 24 the entry of Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos in the fold of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

"Lakas-CMD and PFP have an inextricable partnership that exemplifies the essence of unity, which became the fundamental force behind our overwhelming victory that essentially reflected the nation’s desire and aspiration for a more stable and stronger Philippines," Agusan del Norte 1st district Rep. Jose "Joboy" Aquino II said in a statement.

The 29--year-old presidential son serves as the senior deputy majority leader (SDML) in the House of Representatives.

"The oath-taking of SDML Marcos to the party of our Chief Executive, President Ferdinand ["Bongbong"] Marcos Jr, not only strengthens the political alignment of the two parties, but reaffirms our shared vision for our beloved Philippines," Aquino, Lakas-CMD's secretary general, said.

"Together, as partners and stewards of our nation's progress, we pledge to usher in an era of unparalleled growth and prosperity for all Filipinos," the Mindanaoan further declared.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez sits as president of Lakas-CMD. Romualdez and the elder Marcos are cousins.

Rep. Marcos is a former member of the Nacionalista Party (NP), just like his father.
