Stress impacts everyone. Even celebrities.
Liza Soberano attested to this, revealing how she battled Alopecia not long ago.
She told Vicki Belo, " I got Alopecia actually around 2020 due to stress."
The actress blamed the "nature of the industry" she's in and having her hair constantly done.
Then there's also "pressure" and "lack of sleep."
But her biggest insecurity is her constantly fluctuating weight.
"Throughout my showbiz career, I would always get criticized for my weight fluctuating back and forth."
It affected her mental health, particularly when people started speculating that her weight gain was due to her being pregnant.
But Liza is naturally a fighter.
It helped that growing up she had to contend with tons of body issues.
She recalled being bullied in school prior due to her having "rashes."
"I had allergic reactions to the air (coping with the) changing environment. Because I grew up in America and I came here, all of a sudden, I had all these rashes coming up my legs."
"People would call me 'Hayop,' instead of saying 'Hi, Hope.' People would say I had galis like a dog."
It is because of these experiences that Liza has taken a firm stand against bullying.
She is also against the so-called "standardization" of beauty.
She was once quoted as saying, "There shouldn't be a 'typical' Filipina beauty. Beauty comes in any shapes and forms and we should start embracing the natural beauty that comes in each and every individual."
