Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized around P1.1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes following the arrest of two people in an operation in Compostela town of Davao de Oro.
CIDG director Police Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat said the operation was part of the intensified anti-smuggling campaign of the national government.

He identified those arrested as Minso Pansar and Jalaludin Pansar. They were collared in San Antonio Village in Barangay Maparat.
Seized from them were 13 master cases of Royal Light cigarettes, 22 master cases of San Martin Menthol cigarettes and eight master cases of San Martin Light cigarettes. Also confiscated were P50,000 worth of cash.
Caramat said the suspects were already charged for illegal selling of cigarettes without a standard graphic health warning, while the confiscated evidence will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for examination and custody.
