PAL taps green service provider

Lucio Tan-controlled Philippine Airlines (PAL) has partnered with ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, to help the flag carrier manage resources more efficiently while serving travelers' needs.

"Having ENGIE as a key partner helps us manage our resources more efficiently and work towards a more sustainable world in air travel," said Captain Stanley K. Ng, PAL President and COO.

Specifically, ENGIE Services (Philippines) and ENGIE GEMS APAC will address four key areas of collaboration with PAL.

First, ENGIE will provide PAL with energy risk management services to optimize the airline's energy consumption and enhance its efficiency.

Second, ENGIE will assist PAL in procuring and supplying carbon credits to offset the flag carrier's carbon emissions.

Third, the partners will exchange information on decarbonization strategies, sharing best practices and innovative solutions.

And fourth, PAL and ENGIE will develop and implement projects related to low-carbon mobility, onsite renewable energy production, district cooling infrastructure, as well as energy performance management.

They will also explore topics on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

"Together, we will explore ways to foster a greener, more environmentally conscious future for the aviation sector, in the Philippines and beyond," commented Thomas Baudlot, CEO Energy Solutions APAC, Country Head Southeast Asia, ENGIE South East Asia.
