Although it wasn’t as successful in terms of wins, the trip is fruitful for the development of the team as far as Guiao was concerned.

“Naexcite ako kasi pagdating ng Pilipinas, makikita mo 'yung resulta nung nangyari dito eh 'yung experience nila rito, mga natutunan nila,” said Guiao, who lauded the performances of his young players including newly acquired player Mac Belo.

That sign of maturity and poise was evident in Rain or Shine’s 116-91 victory over Japan U22 team as the Filipino dribblers battled back from a 21-point deficit in the opening frame.

Rain or Shine’s young players showed great character in that come-from-behind win, with Santillan leading the way with 20 points, Mamuyac with 17, Asisitio with 10 and Caracut with 12 points and nine assists.
