‘Kick It, Before It Kicks You’ by SM Cherry

Promoting healthy lifestyle among the youth

SM Cherry Shaw launched the “Kick It, Before It Kicks You” program dedicated to introducing the youth to sports, such as football at the third level at Cherry Turf PH. 

Cherry Turf PH is a place for football. Its entire pitch area is 1,141.87 square meters while the entire playing area has 1,002.89 square meters of space ideal for 7-aside games. It also has a roofing and shading system that’s welcoming for both football and non-football enthusiasts. 

“Kick It, Before It Kicks You” is a joint project of SM Cherry Shaw, SM Cares, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Mandaluyong City Police Station, this program aims  to promote the government’s campaign “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA). 

The program was led by DILG Sec. Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., who was later represented by Asst. Regional Director for DILG NCR Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez.

“Promoting a healthy lifestyle among students requires physical education within their core. This initiative is among the many ways we can help the youth engage in physical activities like the sport football,” Atty. Baltazar-Cortez said. “It is also another step forward in saving our youth, especially those in high school levels, who are most vulnerable to meeting unscrupulous members of the society involved in using and selling illegal drugs.” 

The activity was participated in by 100 high school students from Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales High School in Brgy. Mauway, Mandaluyong City. Hundreds of security personnel deployed in SM Cherry Shaw, SM Center Pasig, SM Megamall and The Podium also took part and showed support for the program.
