Senator Pia Cayetano could not help reminiscing about the life of her late father Senator Rene Cayetano as they took on a complaint about employees’ rights in the recent episode of ‘CIA with BA,’ particularly in the segment ‘Payong Kapatid.’

A certain alias “Cesar” came to the public service program to seek the advice of Pia, her brother and fellow Senator Alan Peter, and co-host Boy Abunda regarding the separation pay he was asking from his employer which is a small retail store.

“Actually, our dad was a labor lawyer so nung dini-discuss ‘yon, nagrereview ako ng labor code, ang naaalala ko ‘yung time na estudyante pa lang ako, labor lawyer na siya and ‘yun ang objective niya na hindi mapahirapan ang mga kababayan natin—‘yung mga karapatan nila maipaglaban nila,” Pia shared when asked by Boy of her takeaway from the stories they’ve heard.

“But at the same time, gusto din naman natin na ‘yung mga negosyo, kumikita, kasi diyan din naman nagtatrabaho ang mga tao. So ‘yung objective niya is lahat tayo masaya,” she said.

“Ako, alang-alang sa tatay ko, although hindi ako expert ng labor law, pero I’m always happy to revisit and to share that knowledge and that passion our father had,” she added.

“We keep saying, ‘tayong mga Pilipino, pamilya tayo.’ Pero hindi naman natin mabayaran ng tama ‘yung empleyado natin, ‘di ba? So if you want to be a family, let’s actually treat each other like a family member,” Senator Alan said for his part.

He also shared a quote from Pastor Peter Tan-Chi of the Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF) as he aired his thoughts on the issue tackled in the ‘Case 2 Face’ segment, wherein a certain Fel Aguilar complained about her friend Shane Garcia who posted a sensitive video of hers online.

According to Aguilar, the video was taken while she was in a restroom and she told Garcia not to post it on social media. However, Garcia was claiming that she had verbal permission from Aguilar.

“Sabi kasi niya (Pastor Tan-Chi), ‘You are free to decide your actions but you are not free to choose the consequences of the actions.’ So diyan sa ating ‘Case 2 Face,’ kung anong gusto niyong gawin [ng] barkada, nasa sa inyo ‘yon, malaya tayo e, pero ‘yung consequence no’n… ‘wag mo lang isipin ‘yung action mo, isipin mo rin ‘yung consequence,” he said.

As the program ended, Boy reminded the viewers to “take good care of our relationships.”

“Sa lahat ng mga ginawa nating kwento ngayong gabi, [tungkol sa] mga relasyon–sa ‘Case 2 Face,’ importante na alam natin kung paano tayo maging isang kaibigan. Sa ‘Payong Kapatid naman, again, it’s about relationship… ‘ano ba ang patas?... [Sa] palagay ko, ang bottomline ng ating buhay is all about relationships,” he said.
