New Pasig health center follows ‘DOH-standards’ -- Mayor Vico

Pasig City government officials inaugurated and blessed on Friday, July 7, the Caniogan Health Center in Barangay Caniogan, which Mayor Vico Sotto said was the “the first health center in Pasig that truly followed the standard of the Department of Health (DOH).”

The three-story building houses numerous laboratories and rooms that are spacious enough for health workers to conduct medical services.

However, the building has yet to be fully furnished with the necessary equipment and tools.

The Caniogan Health Center was established through the collaboration of the City Health Department (CHD) and the Engineering Department (ED).

Sotto lauded the efforts of the CHD and, particularly the ED for laying out a smooth and organized plan and order of work for the construction of the center.

It will precisely serve the needs of the health workers and patients, he added.

The construction and rehabilitation of other mega health centers in the city, notably in Barangays Nagpayong and Kalawaan, are currently ongoing.

The mayor noted that, in all infrastructure projects for the health department across the city’s 30 barangays, the local government is aiming to also make them compliant to the DOH’s standards.

According to the DOH, a primary care facility (PCF) must be able to “provide medical consultations and other minor surgical services within their premises, and shall not be allowed to outsource these services.”

The following services must also be provided to patients: clinical laboratory, diagnostic radiologic services, pharmacy, birthing services, dental services, and an ambulance service.

The local government is also planning to improve the quality of the facilities and services offered at the CHD itself, especially when the new city hall campus is built.

Universal healthcare (UHC) will also continue to be gradually integrated and implemented in the city’s healthcare system, Sotto stressed.
