Five members of Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa withdraw support to CPP-NPA-NDF

GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – The continuous implementation of Executive Order No. 70 in the province has earned back the trust of five activists who declared their withdrawal of support to the armed struggle on Friday, July 6.

These five activists belonging to the Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa (Almana) withdrew their support to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front.

Their formal withdrawal was the result of the Special Intelligence Operation in Barangay Calabasa here conducted by the local police, 703rd Brigade of the Philippine Army, and other law enforcement units.

The surrenderers are now undergoing debriefing with the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Police Col. Richard Caballero, Nueva Ecija police chief, said he is confident that authorities will succeed in the fight against local terrorism as the majority of former rebels are now on the government’s side.

EO 70 was issued by former President Rodrigo Duterte in December 2018 which created the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict – a whole-of-nation approach in defeating the local communists’ terrorist group and obtaining sustainable and inclusive peace throughout the country.
