Westmincom chief awards outgoing US Special Operations Task Force troops


ILIGAN CITY – Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido awarded a plaque and medals to the outgoing officers and personnel of the Special Operations Task Force 511.2 on Friday, July 28.

The Military Merit Medal was presented to Marine Major David Heuwetter III, the outgoing commanding officer of the SOTF 511.2. Also receiving the medal was the team’s officers and enlisted personnel.

Galido presented this during the exit call of the team.

The chief of the Unified Command Staff, Col. Emmanuel Cabasan, and other Westmincom officers graced the ceremony at the Laong Laan Hall in Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City.

Galido commended the US forces for their successful mission in the Philippines.

He thanked the US troops for their support to the Westmincom, particularly in enhancing the knowledge and skills of Filipino soldiers.

“Their expertise contributed to the effective implementation of our campaign against terrorism and other criminalities in our area of operation," Galido said.
