The recent episode of ‘CIA with BA’ has once again proven that blood is thicker than water.

On Sunday, July 2, sibling senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano and TV host Boy Abunda took on the complaint of Gary Alonzo about his older brother Berto, who he said suddenly sold his collected junk items amounting to approximately P3,000.

According to Berto, however, these were causing inconvenience to their neighbors since they have piled up in front of the house he and Gary share. Aside from that, he said the amount he collected from selling the items was considered as Gary’s share in their electricity bill and other expenses.

In settling the dispute, Senator Alan said: “Obligasyon namin sabihin kung ano [ang] batas.”

“In one sense kasi, Gary, ang sinasabi nga niya (Berto), do’n nakatambak (‘yung mga kalakal), bahay niya ‘yon… may karapatan [siyang] tanggalin ‘yon,” he said addressing the complainant. “Pero tama ka naman Gary na iba kasi ‘yung ‘tanggalin’ — ‘yung tatanggalin mo [ang] perwisyo—[at] iba ‘yung binebenta mo.”

“Kasi ‘pag binenta mo, ari-arian niya (Gary) ‘yon. Kaya kung batas at batas ang pag-uusapan, pwedeng tanggalin ‘yon pero hindi mo dapat ibenta ‘yon kaya ‘yung pera dapat isauli sa kanya,” he continued as he talked to Berto.

Senator Alan offered the TV program’s help in shouldering the amount but said the brothers must settle their differences.

“Sasagutin na namin ‘yung tatlong libo, sagutin namin ‘yung konting [halaga para sa] kuryente at tubig… hanggang do’n ‘yung tulong namin pero ‘yung relasyon niyo [bilang magkapatid], hindi namin kayang idikta ‘yon. Pero sana mag-usap kayong dalawa… ‘wag kayong aalis dito sa studio na hindi man lang bumabalik ‘yung turingan bilang magkapatid,” he said.

Before the ‘Case 2 Face’ segment ended, Gary apologized to Berto.

“‘Tol, kung ano man nagawa ko sa ‘yo, patawarin mo ako. Sana ‘di na natin i-aano ‘yung pagiging magkapatid natin,” said Gary while crying and hugging his brother.

“Mas maganda, ayusin na natin buhay natin. Makinig ka sa ‘kin. Ilalagay naman kita sa maayos e,” Berto told his younger brother.

Apart from the cash assistance for the two,‘CIA with BA also provided educational assistance to Gary’s daughter as well as a livelihood.

‘CIA with BA’ is the continuation of  the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program ‘Compañero y Compañera,’ which aired from 1997 to 2001.

‘CIA with BA,’ hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, airs every Sunday at 11:30 p.m. on GMA 7.
