PBBM distributes aid to ‘Egay’ victims in Abra


BANGUED, Abra – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Abra on Saturday, July 29, and distributed assistance to victims of typhoon “Egay.”

Abra was one of the areas worst hit by the typhoon, with 252,408 people or 74,789 families affected in 27 towns.

The Chief Executive was accompanied by Sen. Imee R. Marcos and Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

PBBM also extended cash assistance to local government units and provincial governments of Abra, Benguet, and Mountain Province.

He discussed urgent needs and immediate action for the Cordillera during a situation briefing with local officials led by Abra Rep. Ching Bernos, Abra Gov. Dominic Valera, Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas, Mountain Province Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., League of Municipalities of the Philippines National President Mayor JB Bernos, and national line agency heads.

The President assured typhoon victims that they will receive sufficient relief supplies and assistance.

He said that his visit to Abra will ensure a proper relief response and facilitate faster recovery efforts in the Cordillera.
