Suspects in rape-slay of minor in Zamboanga City nabbed

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested a minor and a construction worker on Thursday, July 27, for allegedly raping and killing a 17-year-old girl here.

City police chief Police Col. Alexander Lorenzo identified the suspect as Nickson Sampuk Saavedra, 29.

The identity of the minor was withheld.

A third suspect remains at large and is the subject of a police manhunt.

Investigation disclosed that Saavedra and an unidentified suspect spotted the victim, Louella Acaylar, at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday while they were having a pot session in a bushy area.

The suspects dragged Acaylar to the area and raped and killed her.  The minor reportedly served as lookout.

They hid the body and dragged it together with the victim's personal items at night to a more conspicuous area where it was discovered Wednesday morning.

The suspects face rape and homicide charges pending the results of an autopsy conducted on Friday morning.
