Six of the APMO awardees from the Philippines earlier won medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). They were Te, Casib, Dalida, Wu, Paredes Dy and Tan.
The APMO “is a mathematical competition for countries in the Pacific-Rim Region.” Contestants have to solve five problems.
Last year, the Philippines won one silver and four bronze awards, and four honorable mentions to rank 19th among 35 participating countries.
In the Philippines, the APMO was administered by the Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP).
