27 road sections in Luzon not passable due to 'Egay'

At least 27 road sections in Luzon were damaged due to the onslaught of Typhoon “Egay”, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Wednesday, July 27.

Citing data from the field, the DPWH said 14 road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are currently not passable due to fallen trees and collapsed soil.

In Region I, eight roads are not passable due to fallen electrical posts and high water elevation.

On the other hand, the DPWH said six road sections in Region II and III, were monitored to be not accessible to traffic due to flooding and collapsed pavements.

In a statement, the DPWH said it has already installed warning signs and has already deployed manpower and equipment with coordination of the local government unit (LGU).

In addition, three road sections in CAR, Region III, and Region IV-B have limited access due to flooding and collapsed pavement.

The DPWH reminds the motorists to avoid the said road sections and take alternative routes while clearing operations are still on-going. (Nicole Magmanlac)
