Being an actress, singer, and stand-up comedian myself, I truly admire those stand-up comedians who have climbed the ladder of success and earned recognition not only as comedians but also as talented actors and singers. 

Jamie Foxx is a remarkable illustration of talent and versatility. His journey began in the stand-up comedy scene, where he captivated audiences with his impeccable timing and unique style. However, it was his unforgettable performances in the comedy show "In Living Color" that truly launched his career into the stratosphere. With his brilliant impersonations and remarkable comedic sketches, Foxx left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment.

This paved the way for his own sitcom, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” which aired from 1996 to 2001. Foxx’s breakthrough in acting came with his portrayal of Ray Charles in the biographical film “Ray” in 2004. His exceptional performance earned him widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actor. 

He has since starred in various successful films, including “Collateral”, “Django Unchained”, “Baby Driver”, and “Just Mercy”. As a singer, Foxx’ album,“Unpredictable,” gained commercial success in 2005, earning him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance. As a fan, I was shocked to see him telling his survival story on Instagram when the rest of Hollywood was mum about it. 

Foxx was teary-eyed when he was filming the thank-you -video he released for his 16.7 million fans on Instagram. “First of all, I wanna say thank you to everybody that prayed and sent me messages. I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through…”

Last April 12, Foxx’s daughter Corinne issued a statement on her Instagram. “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the statement read. After that, there was a news blackout on his condition. Foxx provides a clear explanation in his video on Instagram. “I know a lot of people have been waiting for updates, but to be honest, I just didn’t want you to see like that…I want you to see me laugh, having a good time… crack a joke, do a movie… a television show…I did not want you to see me in tubes running out of me, and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through….To be honest with you, my sister Deidredix and my daughter Corinne really saved my life so to them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I‘m able to leave you this video. … I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in… my family protected me ..."

Due to the news block out, there were a lot of speculations that Foxx cleared out in his Instagram video. “By being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand….people said I was blind. As you can see, the eyes are working just fine, and they said I was paralyzed. I'm not paralyzed, but I did go through, I went to hell and back. My road to recovery had some potholes as well. I’m coming back. I'm able to to work. I wanna thank the people that let me work. I just wanna say that I love everybody….If you see me out and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s because it’s been tough, I was sick… but like a said I want you to remember me with a joke that I crack, the movies that I make some are good, some are mad.. and the songs that I sing….” We love you Jamie Foxx, and we are excited to watch you and your daughter Corinne in your new music game show on Fox TV entitled, “We Are Family." God is good.
