Scheduled from July 29 to Aug. 3, the six-day summit will be held in Marikina City. It aims to reassess, realign, and refocus its learner-related initiatives to be more responsive to learners' needs.
Launching pad

DepEd said that the activity will serve as a “launching pad” for the services provided by the agency’s Operations strand.

This, DepEd, said, is also in support of its MATATAG Agenda --- particularly its commitment to “take good care of learners through promoting learner well-being, inclusive education, and a positive learning environment.”

With the theme, “SaMakabata: Sentro ng Karunungan, Huwaran ng Kagalingan,” DepEd said the learner engagement will act as an “avenue to dialogue, share, and collaborate ideas, insights, lessons learned, and best practices in learners’ involvement in public and civic affairs.”

DepEd explained during n the Convergence, thematic learning sessions will transpire to offer “meaningful opportunities” for learners to learn about their role in nation-building.

Safe space

The event also aims to serve as a “safe space” where learners can build a network of like-minded individuals interested in leadership, governance, and civic engagement; health and well-being; gender and social inclusion; climate action, environmental protection, and agriculture; innovation, entrepreneurship, and future readiness; and culture, arts, and peace, among others.

DepEd said simultaneous sessions will also be conducted by concerned offices of the DepEd Central Office.

Capacity-building programs for learners, disaster preparedness, advocacy campaigns for health, the development of an action plan on the promotion of sports clubs in public schools, and the Learners’ Rights Congress will also be discussed during the summit.

DepEd said the conference, which will be held simultaneously with the 2023 Palarong Pambansa, will converge select high school learners, youth leaders and formators, and education stakeholders from the 228 schools division offices (SDO) from 17 regions in the country.

“LearnCon participants will likewise serve as spectators and supporters of their respective regions at the grand opening of the Palarong Pambansa,” DepEd said.
