The provincial government of Tarlac has adopted the “Palengke-QR (quick response) Ph Plus Program” in Camiling Public Market, an initiative promoted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in a bid to "adapt to new technology, making everything more accessible and convenient.’’

The DILG noted that the move has jumpstarted the transitioning of Tarlaqueños into using hassle-free payment schemes in public markets and even in public transportation.

“Through Gov. Susan A. Yap's earnest initiative of introducing Paleng-QR in Tarlac, the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the province don't have to spend for pricey point of sale (POS) equipment and ultimately, both the sellers and the customers are ensured that their hard-earned money is safe and well accounted for,’’ the DILG said in a statement.

The DILG noted that the program also helps the local government units (LGUs) become a step closer toward inclusive progress, giving equal economic opportunities without compromising the safety and convenience of the public.

“Eventually, with the unceasing support of the Provincial Government, we are positive that more LGUs will replicate this progressive initiative, paving the way for Tarlac to become a smart province,” the DILG added.

BSP Deputy Gov. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, former Senator Alberto G. Romulo, Vice-Gov. Carlito S. David, Camiling Municipal Mayor Erlon C. Agustin, DILG Tarlac Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Angelo Alexis C. Barroga were among the dignitaries present during the program’s launching.
