Mayor Ruffy to dad: You've done well as public servant

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon honored his father, the late senator, congressman, and chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Gen. Rodolfo “Pong” Biazon, saying that he served his country well.  Biazon passed away on June 12 at age 88. During the last Mass and eulogy for the former senator at the Philippine Marines headquarters in Taguig on June 20, Biazon spoke about his father’s legacy and thanked all the people who helped them during this time.  “Right now, it is time for us to say goodbye to Papa in this world. We send him off with the love. We send him off with the knowledge he has done well, the faithful public servant,” Mayor Biazon said about his father.  He added, “In that, we are happy with the knowledge that he will be in the embrace of God soon.”  During his time in the military, Biazon was credited for quelling coup attempts during the administration of President Corazon Aquino.  Mayor Biazon remembered that after the coup attempt was quashed, “when the victorious government forces were having a press conference, si Papa, Gen. Rodolfo Biazon, was the only one on stage who was weeping.”  “Weeping because what he went through was soldier against soldier. Siguro naman hindi weakness kung si Papa ay naluha (I’m sure it was not a sign of weakness when Papa cried),” he said.  Mayor Biazon thanked all the people, government officials and the Muntinlupa City government, his father’s doctors and nurses, and his family for their support.  The last government position Biazon held was as congressman of Muntinlupa from 2010 to 2016.
