BORONGAN CITY -- A total of 151 couples experienced a wedding by the beach at Baybay Boulevard and Hebacong Sea of Clouds and Nature Park here on Monday, June 19.
The mass wedding was one of the city's activities in line with its 16th Charter Day celebration on June 20.
After 27 years, couple Diosdada and Roberto Dilao finally made their dream beach wedding come true through the city government's free mass wedding on Monday, June 20 at Baybay Boulevard, Borongan City.
City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda who officiated the two civil mass weddings, stressed the importance of legitimizing the couples' status as husbands and wives and protecting the children of their rights.
Wilma Perante, Philippine Statistics Authority 8 regional director, said it is also an opportunity for couples to provide legitimacy to their children.
Diosdada, 59, and Roberto Dilao, 55, the oldest couple who availed of the free wedding, have been living together for 27 years.
They have been blessed with three children, one of which is already married.
The couple shared that it took time for them to finally get married because of the problems they encountered in securing the documentary requirements that Roberto had to get from Davao.
