With the theme "Connecting Communities, Enriching Lives, Forging a Digital Future for the Philippines," this year's NICT highlights the four essential visions and programs of DICT under the current administration.

These include digital innovation and inclusion, digital governance, digital workforce competitiveness, and digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.

"With the Philippines' digital future in mind, this month serves as a reminder of the importance of ICT in driving progress and improving the lives of all Filipinos," DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said.

"It encourages innovation, collaboration, impact, and inclusivity, and promotes a digital transformation that prioritizes clear outcomes and public value," he added.

Uy also stressed the importance of ICT in the lives of Filipinos in pursuing innovation and improvement toward the digital future.

During the NICT kick-off ceremony held at the Malacañan Palace, Manila, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., also led the launch of the eGov Super App.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary for e-Government David Almirol, Jr. presented the features of the eGov SuperApp which is a platform that seamlessly aggregates various government services into a unified online system, effectively eliminating red tape and enhancing public service delivery.

Along with the celebration of NICT Month, the DICT will also celebrate its 7th anniversary on June 9.

"The DICT will soon celebrate its 7th anniversary as a department, tasked with the unenviable task of unifying agencies digitally that were long existing in silos," Uy said.

"Reflecting on the past seven years, we look back on our achievements and challenges in transforming our country's digital landscape," he added.

Uy noted that with renewed vigor, the DICT will "accelerate" the rollout of programs and projects that will enable Filipinos to reap the benefits of the digital age.

"Our focus now is more on the impact and outcomes of DICT's mandate down to every region," he added.

For her part, Undersecretary for ICT Industry Development Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, who also serves as the Chairperson of the NICT Month 2023 Steering Committee, encouraged their public and private stakeholders to actively join the celebration and become a part of various activities. (Sonny Daanoy)
