P12-M shabu, marijuana seized in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police arrested 20 suspected drug personalities and seized marijuana and shabu worth P12 million during anti-illegal drug operations in the Cordillera region from June 11 to 17.

Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., Police Regional Police Office-Cordillera chief, said the Benguet and Kalinga Provincial Police Office discovered 37,020 fully grown marijuana plants, 200 marijuana seedlings, and 300 marijuana stalks with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P7.4 million in eight clandestine marijuana plantation sites.

These were burned after documentation and follow-up operations are being conducted to identify their cultivators.

The PRO-Cordillera Regional Operations Division said the 20 drug personalities will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165  or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They yielded a total of 9.13 grams of shabu and 38,025. 60 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops with an overall SDP of P4,625,156.

The Kalinga PPO arrested eight drug personalities, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) with six, Abra PPO with three, Benguet PPO with two, and Ifugao PPO with one.
