The newly built modular treatment plant (ModTP) in Imus Cavite will start to operate this month and is expected to further improve the water supply in the areas being serviced by the Maynilad Water Services Inc.
In a statement, Maynilad said the ModTP is expected to produce 5.5 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water from the Anabu River and can supply the needs of more than 13,000 customers.
“The P2.12 billion Anabu ModTP is dedicated to residents of Imus, which does not yet have a 24-hour water supply owing to its distance from Maynilad’s main water source, the Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan,” the statement read.
Once the Anabu ModTP becomes fully operational, it can produce a total of 16 MLD, which can supply over 114, 000 customers in the area.
“With the commissioning of this new facility, we can lengthen supply availability in this part of the West concession that has yet to be provided with 24-hour water service. We aim to enhance service reliability by building more treatment facilities that tap alternate raw water sources,” said Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Randolph T. Estrellado.
The Anabu ModTP is one of the Maynilad’s strategies for reducing the potential effects of El Niño on the availability of water supply.
Maynilad is the largest water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customers as it provides water supply in over 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the Greater Manila area.(Nicole Magmanlac)
