Fr. Tolentino said the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Vatican invited him to talk about the Filipinos’ devotion and deep faith in the Blessed Virgin Mary which he also considers as an opportunity to promote further devotion to Antipolo”s Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje.

“This is a huge blessing and opportunity for me and for our International Shrine to be able to tell the world about Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage,” said Fr. Tolentino over Radio Veritas.

The Second Conference for Rectors of Shrines will be held in Rome, Italy on Nov. 9 to 11. This year’s theme is “The Shrine: A House of Prayer.”

“I am planning to share the experiences of devotees whose prayers had been answered through their devotion to the Blessed Mother,” said Fr. Tolentino. The priest likewise requested for prayers for the success of the gathering and for his mission to spread devotion to the Virgin of Antipolo.

The Antipolo Cathedral was designated as an international shrine in June 2022, the first in the country, the third in Asia and the 11th in the world. Fr. Tolentino led the holy mass for the designation last March 25. The formal solemn declaration has been set for next year.

Millions of devotees visit the Antipolo Cathedral every year with huge crowds expected during the annual Penitential Walk and during the pilgrimage season form May to July.
