"In a meeting with Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Carmelita 'Menchie' Abalos last May 3, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Chairperson/CEO, Undersecretary Elpidio R. Jordan Jr., discussed possible collaborative projects which aims to promote the welfare of the urban poor sector, including a possible high-rise condominium project in the city," the agency said in a statement on Tuesday, May 9.
PCUP noted that the lgu is a constant supporter of its programs.
"Since the start of Undersecretary Jordan Jr.’s administration, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor has been focused on strengthening its partnerships with the private sector and various Local Government Units throughout the country in order to gather pledges of support for its 4 Banner Programs," PCUP said.
Among the banner programs of the commission is another housing initiative called, "Piso Ko, Bahay Mo," which aims to provide housing to those affected by court-ordered demolitions and evictions.
The project also targets encouraging the private sector to help alleviate the housing backlog in the country, PCUP noted.
According to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, the state's housing backlog is estimated at 6.5 million.
