These are young people who have to live on their own when they turn 18 after living in child welfare facilities or foster homes due to parental absence or abuse. There are about 2,500 young people every year who are classified under this in South Korea.

They often face economic and psychological difficulties in the process of becoming self-reliant, according to the Beautiful Store Foundation.

Kim Seon-ho decided to sponsor self-reliant young people through a fandom vote. At his request, the Korean Red Cross plans to use the donation for a program to develop self-reliance capabilities of young people preparing for self-reliance.

The Korean Red Cross provides a mind stability program for psychological stability and customized items to provide a foundation for self-reliance to young people preparing for self-reliance.

“This donation is a donation made by the fans. Thank you to the fans who are always with me. I hope this opportunity will be of some help to young people who have to stand alone,” said Kim Seon-ho.

Korean Red Cross Chairman Shin Hee-young said in the past three years, about 20 young people who were preparing for self-reliance made extreme choices due to social indifference.

“We hope that young people who are experiencing psychological and economic difficulties can confidently stand on their own as members of the social community through housing and emotional support programs,” he said.

Kim Seon-ho previously made donations for victims of typhoons in Pohang and for treatment expenses for children suffering from childhood cancer and rare intractable diseases.

Coincidentally, Kim Seon-ho’s birthday, May 8, is also the International Red Cross Day. The birthday (May 8) of Jean-Henri Dunant, the founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is designated as the International Red Cross Day and Red Cross societies in 192 countries around the world carry out activities to honor his noble humanitarian spirit.
