NLEX announced that it is terminating Quiñahan’s contract after its own investigations revealed that the bruising forward had committed several violations on his Uniform Players' Contract.

“The NLEX Road Warriors have decided to terminate the remaining contract of Joseph Ronald "J. R." Quiñahan,” said the Road Warriors in a statement.

“Following a thorough investigation, it was found that Quiñahan had committed several infractions of his Uniform Players' Contract, including, among others, playing in unsanctioned games without seeking clearance from NLEX management and the Philippine Basketball Association.

The Road Warriors are paying Quiñahan a max salary contract of P420,000 a month until the end of the year but the big man has yet to see action for NLEX following his recovery from an Achilles tendon surgery last year.

The burly forward however was seen participating in a fight-marred Cebu exhibition game where he was caught getting into a fist fight with a foreign player of the opposing team. Quiñahan was one of the 10 players meted with hefty fines by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial last week for participating in a ‘Ligang Labas’.

Quiñahan, who is now officially a free agent and can sign with any team following the termination of his contract, was slapped with a total of P70,000 fine – P50,000 for his participation in ‘Ligang Labas’ and an additional P20,000 for the brawl.
