Bunduquin, 50, was gunned down in front of his store by an assailant on board a motorcycle early Wednesday morning, May 31, along Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Barangay Santa Isabel, this city.

"We will update the public about any details as to the development of the investigation,” said Police Col. Samuel S. Delorino, director of Police Provincial Office-Oriental Mindoro and concurrent head of SITG-Bunduquin.

“We guarantee to bring swift justice to the victim and his family," he added.

The SITG was formed on orders of Police Brig. Gen. Joel B. Doria, director of the Police Regional Office-Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area) to conduct a thorough investigation on the killing of the radio commentator.

"We take the incident very seriously and we will do everything in our power to ensure that the death of Cresenciano Bunduquin will be brought to justice. Likewise, I urge the public who may have information regarding the incident to come forward to expedite the resolution of the incident," said Doria in a statement.

Bunduquin, a resident of Barangay Canubing Dos, Calapan City, was shot at about 4:20 a.m. by a back rider who alighted from a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle with plate number DD22153 and shot him several times in different parts of his body.

When the suspects fled, the victim's son chased them on board a car and bumped the motorcycle of the suspects some 300 meters from the crime scene.

The collision resulted in the death of one of the suspects, identified as Narciso Ignacio Guntan, who sustained head injuries when he hit a steel barrier on the road side. The other suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction and is now a subject of a manhunt.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS), a national inter-agency task force mandated to protect the life, liberty, and security of all members of the press, has offered a reward of P50,000 for any information leading to the suspect's immediate arrest.
