Sea trips in Quezon suspended due to ‘Betty’

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Philippine Coast Guard suspended sea trips from here to the southern part of Quezon on Monday, May 29, due to typhoon “Betty.”

The PCG, which barred all watercraft with 250 gross tons and below from sailing, said the suspension was based on the weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday morning.

PAGASA forecast strong to gale force winds in the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon and western seaboard of Visayas, including the southern coast of Quezon.

Commodore Janus Robinson Sabas, Coast Guard Station-Southern Quezon chief, said sea trips may resume when weather and sea conditions allow and declared by PAGASA.

Affected ports were Alabat, Atimonan, and Dalahican and Cotta here.
