The official was in Liloan to join the celebration of the Rosquillos Festival 2023 at the Liloan Central School Grounds on Saturday, May 27.

Known for its famous Rosquillos delicacy, the celebration, according to Duterte, depicts the Liloanon’s drive to preserve and continue the unique tradition of the town.

“This is a celebration of your unity, sacrifices, and efforts as community,” she said in Cebuano.

Duterte then offered the programs she initiated at the Office of the Vice President (OVP); namely, the OVP’s Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day (MTD) project and Medical and Burial (MAB) assistance program.

MAB, which is among the social services implemented by the OVP, is accessible to Cebuanos through the OVP Cebu Satellite Office in Mandaue City.

According to Duterte's office, there were 4,539 individuals who have so far benefitted from the P38.54-million worth of MAB assistance in Cebu.

In acknowledging the importance of livelihood in sustaining a family’s day-to-day needs, Duterte also talked about the MTD project.

It aims to help women and members of the LGBTQI+ augment their daily income by making them economically empowered and independent.

The MTD, one of Duterte’s flagship projects when she was still mayor of Davao City, was adopted by the OVP for nationwide implementation.

Before the event, Duterte led the launching of the “PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees” at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Through the initiative, the Vice President hopes to provide one million bags containing school supplies and dental kits to students.

It also aims to plant one million trees for environmental sustainability, and promote family planning among parents.

While in Liloan, she also attended the grand opening of the Liloan’s first Smart Port, Pier 88, that offers convenient and modern services for the commuters, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
