Relief goods flown to Batanes ahead of ‘Mawar’ entry


BASCO, Batanes – The Philippine Air Force has airlifted 850 boxes of relief goods to this province ahead of the expected entry of super typhoon “Mawar.”

These were flown by the Tactical Operations Group 2 via a C-130 aircraft on Thursday, May 25.

Lt. Gen. Fernyl Buca, Northern Luzon Command chief, said all units under Nolcom are on standby to conduct Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Operations for Mawar.

Buca said Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine have been strategically deployed across their area of responsibility – Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera Administrative Region – for the super typhoon which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday night, May 26, or Saturday morning, May 27.

Once Mawar enters the PAR, it will be called “Betty.”
