The Office of the Vice President (OVP) gave away 4,400 gift packs and 27 wheelchairs to beneficiaries in Aklan province in time for the agency’s 89th founding anniversary.
The thanksgiving activity, which took place on Sunday, Nov. 17, also provided P150,000 worth of livelihood assistance to two organizations in Aklan under the OVP’s “Mag Negosyo Ta Day” program.
“Masayang tinanggap ng mga residente ng munisipalidad ng Makato at Boracay Island ang handog na gift packs mula sa Office of the Vice President (The residents of the municipality of Makato and Boracay Island happily received the gift packs from the Office of the Vice President),” the statement from the OVP read.
The 4,400 gift packs each includes rice, noodles, canned goods, and coffee.
The beneficiaries of the gift packs came from the sectors of drivers, e-trike drivers, boat drivers, photographers, vendors, solo parents, and members of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization.
Aside from the gift packs, the OVP also gave away the livelihood assistance to the Tamu-an Womens Organization at Dabong Farmers Association.
Some 27 wheelchairs were also given away to stroke and cerebral palsy patients and their families.
“Nagpapasalamat naman ang Office of the Vice President sa mga tumulong upang maging matagumpay ang aktibidad (The Office of the Vice President thanks those who helped make this activity successful),” the OVP said.
These are the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRMO), barangay officials, and the Malay and Makato local government units.
