The Manila City Council (MCC) announced on Saturday, Dec. 2, that the Manila Police District (MPD) Sta. Cruz Police Station (PS3) will soon have a parking lot following the inauguration of the new police station building.

Under City Ordinance No. 9008, public use of a portion of land with an aggregate area of 186.32 square meters situated at the corner of Tayuman Street and Felix Huertas Road will be utilized as the official parking space of the PS-3.

The ordinance passed on the third reading and published last Nov. 30 by the MCC was submitted for signing by Manila Mayor Maria Honey Lacuna-Pangan.

It will take effect 15 days after its publication in two locally circulated newspapers.

The ordinance was filed by Councilors Johanna Maureen “Apple” C. Nieto-Rodriguez and Terrence F. Alibarbar.

In her sponsorship speech, Councilor Rodriguez emphasized that the police station needs to have its official parking space near the area to act swiftly in case of emergencies and other public concerns.

The new MPD PS-3 Station was a priority project of former Manila Third District Representative and now Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto.

The new precinct building has an elevator, an in-house firing range, and a gym among other amenities, to keep its assigned police personnel prepared and ready for action, and convenient as well for public use for their police concerns.

Nieto said the location of the new precinct is more convenient to the police force and the public since it is adjacent to SM San Lazaro mall.
