The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will provide free rides to passengers on Saturday, Dec. 30, in commemoration of this year's Rizal Day.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer in Charge Jorjette Aquino said the MRT-3 will accommodate passengers for free from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.; and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The gesture was made in honor of the 127th anniversary of the martyrdom of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
“Sa pamamagitan po ng aming LIBRENG SAKAY, hangad ng MRT-3 na maipadama ang pakikiisa ng buong linya sa paggunita sa ika-127 anibersaryo ng kabayanihan ni Gat Jose Rizal (By means of our free ride initiative, the MRT-3 aims to convey the line's solidarity in honoring the 127th anniversary of Jose Rizal's heroism),” Aquino said in a Facebook post.
"Nawa po ay manatiling buhay sa ating mga pasahero ang kadakilaan at ang mga hangarin ng ating pambansang bayani para sa malaya, mapayapa, at maunlad na Pilipinas (May our passengers remember our national hero's excellence and ambitions for a free, peaceful, and prosperous Philippines)," she added.
The first trip will leave at 4:37 a.m. from the North Avenue Station and 5:18 a.m. from Taft Avenue Station.
On the other hand, the last trip will leave at 9:30 p.m. from the North Avenue Station and 10:08 p.m. from the Taft Avenue Station.
