Guimaras hosts enduro, cross country marathon this month


ILOILO CITY – The island-province of Guimaras is hosting the Philippine National Championships for Enduro and Cross Country Marathon this month.

Gov. JC Rahman Nava said that hosting the race is part of the island-province’s goal to become a biking paradise.

The October 21 to 22 sports event will bring 400 elite cyclists from all over the country.

The Enduro Mountain Bike Race will be held in Sibunag with around 200 participants on October 21.

On October 22, more than 200 cyclists are expected to compete in a 63-kilometer race in the Cross-Country Marathon that will traverse a scenic terrain.

The two-day event is sanctioned by the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (PhilCycling), the national governing body for cycling sports that is recognized by recognized by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

Featuring five challenging stages, the Guimaras event is part of the qualifier for the 2024 World Cycling Championship.

Winners of both races will take home cash prizes and a chance to represent the country in international competitions.
