A program that featured bands entertained residents who trooped to the area to watch the spectacle live.

Cheers erupted from onlookers as the spectacular fireworks display lit up the night sky at 12 midnight, signaling the start of 2024.

The New Year Countdown and Fireworks Display capped an eventful Christmas Festival that started on December 1.

Major Christmas landmarks here include the fully-lighted Zamboanga City Hall and a giant computerized Christmas tree at the Integrated Bus Terminal.

The lighting of the Zamboanga City Hall, decorated in line with the Christmas 2023 theme “Starry, Starry Christmas,” is an annual tradition awaited by residents and visitors alike.

The giant Christmas tree, said to be the biggest and the only computerized tree in the Zamboanga Peninsula region, drew throngs of visitors after it opened on December 9.

Christmas lights also brightened major thoroughfares, parks, and plazas here.
