Comelec-Caraga leads 'Kontra Bigay' task force

BUTUAN CITY – The Commission on Elections-Caraga has reminded candidates to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Oct. 30.

Comelec-13 Director Francisco R. Pobe urged candidates in the region to follow standing laws and guidelines of the agency on the different aspects of the elections.

Pobe said they have created the “Kontra Bigay” task force against vote-buying in an effort to strictly enforce election laws, rules, and regulations.

He said the Kontra Bigay committee is composed of the regional directors from the Comelec, Department of Education, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, representative of the regional citizen’s arm, and the anti-corruption commission.

“We (the Comelec) intend to give this highest priority to this ‘Kontra Bigay’ campaign, in an objective to make this election most honest, peaceful, and orderly election,” Pobe said.

“We also intend to establish the ‘Citizens Complaint Center’ in connection with the prosecution of vote buying and vote selling,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-13 will step up their campaign against loose firearms ahead of the BSKE.

“We will double our efforts to prevent election related incidents,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said.
