Rescue crew of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Office (DRRMO) assisted 332 devotees who suffered various injuries while in the middle of the Traslacion, as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Most of the medical concerns of the devotees who sought assistance from the Manila DRRMO were fractured feet and arms, minor lacerations, high blood pressure, fainting, and dizziness.
"Sa pagtutulungan ng iba't ibang ahensya, naging maganda naman po yung pagbibigay natin ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan na deboto ng Imahe ng Itim na Nazareno (With the cooperation of various agencies, we provide good service to our locals who are devotees of the Image of the Black Nazarene), Manila DRRMO Director Arnel Angeles.
He said 320 of the injured devotees were given first aid, while 12 of them had to be admitted to hospital for observation.
Some of the injured devotees were brought to medical vehicles parked at the sidelines of the procession, while others with serious conditions were brought to the field hospital at the Bonifacio Shrine near the Manila City Hall.
Authorities called on the participants of Traslacion to give way to devotees who need medical attention.
In 2020, around 250 people were injured during the procession of the image of the Black Nazarene, according to the Manila Public Information Office.
