LOOK: 'Fendi by Marc Jacobs' collection is now here in Manila

Part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Baguette, the collection is a reflection of the glittering and gritty New York cityscape.

After presenting its collaboration with American jewelry brand [Tiffany & Co.](https://old.mb.com.ph/2023/03/06/icydk-fendis-iconic-bag-gets-a-tiffany-co-makeover/), luxury fashion house Fendi unveils its capsule collections with American fashion designer Marc Jacobs. Dubbed “Fendi by Marc Jacobs,” the collection features the designer’s exploration of the brand’s iconic pieces, and they’re now available here in the Philippines.   “Fendi by Marc Jacobs” collection
Marc Jacobs is a long-time friend and mentor to Fendi’s artistic director for womenswear Kim Jones. This collection reflects both that personal relationship and the respect he holds for Fendi as a house and the birthplace of an iconic item of pop product: The Baguette and the Fendi icons.  “In my opinion, Marc is the King of fashion in America,” Kim muses. “He is also a master of branding and experimentation, particularly with logos. Here, Marc has designed a Fendi collection—it is not a collaboration, rather it is an interpretation. In it, there is a sense of freedom in excess and joy, where he was allowed to do whatever he wanted.”  Part of the [25th-anniversary celebration of the Baguette](https://old.mb.com.ph/2022/09/12/fendi-celebrates-the-legacy-of-the-baguette-bag-at-nyfw-2022/), the collection is a  reflection of the glittering and gritty New York cityscape. It explores dram and new modern silhouettes through parachute train skirts, balloon-backed broken denim jackets, rustling cellophane opera capes, and fluoro-recycled fur stoles and hats. Inspired by the glass frontages and workman’s hi-vis vests are the glitter of rhinestones, silver, and fluorescent yellow pervades, becoming an almost literal example of “local color.” Exaggerated, platformed, and oversized, the take on the Baguette itself also shares something of these silhouettes’ grand gestures—elongated and gleaming, replete with multiple mini versions of itself attached.  “I’ve got one word: Fendiroma,” Marc says. “And it is one word! It is another land, this Fendiroma… And I’ve got two words: The Baguette.
