BI rescues 4 human trafficking victims at NAIA

Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have rescued four suspected victims of human trafficking in a follow-up operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Ina statement, BI said the victims include three women, who were all supposed to work for an online casino in Cambodia.

Initially, the passengers claimed to be employed in the country and traveling abroad for tourism.

However, during the investigation, they admitted to being unlawfully recruited as telemarketers for an online gaming company, enticed by the promise of a monthly salary of US$800.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco reminded aspiring overseas workers to seek employment abroad only through the Department of Migrant Workers to ensure their protection from traffickers.
