A portion of the proceeds of the Southside Rhythm Fest concert will go to charitable institutions such as the Cebu City Santa Rita de Cascia Women and Children’s Center and the Rotary Club of Metro Mandaue 2006.
Part of the proceeds will also be donated to fund the projects of the Philippine Councilors League, said concert organizer Jon Dave Lepatan.
February Canoy, president of the Rotary Club of Metro Mandaue 2006, said the concert will be a big help for the group’s End Polio Now project.
“One of the Rotary’s pledges is that we do our best to eliminate polio. Polio is a virus which is very deadly especially to children aged six-years-old and below,” said Canoy.
Canoy said the amount that the Rotary will get from the concert will greatly help in their campaign against polio.
“We do vaccination, do a lot of information campaigns,” said Canoy.
Celebrities, both local and international, have joined the Rotary’s campaign to eradicate polio in the Philippines, said Canoy.
Canoy said the Rotary has already made a lot of progress when it comes to protecting children from polio.
“We just keep on doing what we do. We are not yet at the finish line but we are getting there. This event is going to help. Help more children get vaccinated because the bottomline is if we don’t help out, polio will keep emerging. It will go on to our family, to our children and our children’s children and we don’t want that to happen,” Canoy added.
The Southside Rhythm Fest organized by Ubecside Entertainment Production will feature Parokya ni Edgar and Sponge Cola.
Lepatan said the event will not only showcase national OPM bands but will also feature local bands that Cebuanos will surely love.
"We have always believed in the talents of our local bands, especially in the era where Bisrock or Bisaya rock made its wave in our radio stations. We want to let the Sugbuanons know that this is their chance to see and hear them perform again," said Lepatan.
Among the local bands that will play during the concert are Aggressive Audio, Scramble Egg, The Ambassadors, Indephums, and Kantin Dudg.
Ticket prizes are pegged at P400 for general admission, P850 for silver, P1,590 for gold, P2,120 for VIP, and P2,650 for SVIP.
