4 wounded in gun attacks in Quezon


Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded four persons, including an elderly couple, in Lucena City and Tiaong town in this province on Thursday, May 11.

Police identified the victims as Jordan Pilar, 28, construction worker from Barangay Ibabang Iyam, Lucena City; Fredyrex Jaco Catubua, 35, driver, of Lucena City; and farmer Gregorio Aquino, 62, and his wife Maria Anti Ariola Aquino, 60, store owner, and residents of Barangay Cabay in Tiaong town.

Pilar was walking in Barangay Ibabang Iyam when he was shot while Catubua was hit by a stray bullet while having dinner. They were taken to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City and now in stable condition.

Gunman was wearing a black jacket and fled onboard a motorcycle driven by a companion clad in a gray jacket.

The Aquinos were on their way to Barangay Del Rosario in Tiaong on their tricycle when the suspects riding a motorcycle tailed the victims and shot them for no apparent reason several times.

Gregorio sustained bullet wounds in different parts of the body  and his wife was wounded in the leg. They were taken to the hospital while the suspects fled toward San Juan, Batangas.

Police are thoroughly investigating these cases.
