Newly installed Pasay police officer-in-charge Col. Yanha Bustamante Yusuf said he plans to separate detainees facing heinous crimes from those with minor offenses in police jails.
Yusuf said detainees facing heinous crimes are more inclined to think of escaping from detention facility.
He also said the city police force is coordinating with courts to fast track the hearings of detainees' cases and for immediate issuance of commitment order to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
To avoid a repeat of the April 3 jailbreak, Yusuf said immediate inspections will be conducted in all detention facilities.
He said efficient police personnel will be detailed at police detention cells.
Yusuf also thanked Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano for the trust as he vowed to work hard to maintain the peace and order in the city.
